I'm really sorry cause i can't conduct sectionals for you guys. My studys are really lagging behind, so yea. sorry. But if you guys think you really need sectionals just text me anytime and I will try and make that time available for you guys ok? :)

Hmmm, and tell me too. what Mr Kiang wants you all to work on. Especially if he talks about your tone, so I can try to think of ways to improve yoo guys.

For now, i have these issues.

Sara: Air you put into the flute is too harsh. Try to lessen your air speed, and think gentle, then there should be no problem with you holding 8 counts.

Jillene: Air quite thin. Don't be too lazy. Breathe correctly. and dont always complain after a while of sectionals. Not very good attitude ok. REMEMBER no ABCs. Have been quite lenient on you already. you want me to pump you all like how sharlene pumped you guys?

Lee Le : Not enough air. practice on your long tones, 8 counts per note.. Sure you can be a good flute player in no time!

All of you guys have potential, and I must help you guys develop it within 1 year. time is quite tight, I want you guys to be better than AMKSS flutes, cause they're really good! It is not impossible to achieve that goal. So, thats all for now, TATA!

Do you all think that you want sectionals during exam period? ( next wednesday most probably)
Cause I think if we don't have that sectionals, we might just be the worst section in band. Zhu Jun and Corrinne must buck up ok? You guys missed out really a lot of stuff when you guys took a break. REALLY GOT A LOT. SO yea. Need you guys to not be day-dreaming, (not that i say you are) I would really appreciate if all of you practice your parts well enough for me to conduct a smooth sectionals :)

So.. From today onwards, (or you've already stared) MUG HARD! Don't think about anything else but the thing that you're reading. from geography to math, or even A MATH >.<

LIMELIGHT'S round the corner, hope you guys have 心理准备 cause we only have less than 2 weeks to the concert! That is, after the exams. It will be more intnsive than SYF, I guess, So yea. 加油 all.

IT ONLY 34 DAYS TO LIMELIGHT, && COUNTING.

SO, enjoy studying while you can! actually i prefer playing the flute to studying leh lols. haha.

THE DEAREST FLUTE SECTION BAND DIARYY!
NOVEMBER:


21st November 2008:
Hong kong Trip! Had to wake up very early in the morning to go to the airport, We were all very excited, and we had to wait about 1 and a half hour for admin work. L nervous and all, we finally got to check in! We watched movies on the plane, slept(SHARLENE AHH), and most importantly, TOOK PHOTOS/ TALK/ BONDING~ (plane was super cold.) Reached Hong Kong (finally), all of us excited and ready to go, off we went! We went to eat at a restaurant (CHINESE FOOD!) Joey ate brinjal for the first time in her whole life! (pathetic ehh) We saw real life abalone and well, we didn’t expect them to look like that(we all live in the drain).Sight-seeing the whole of the rest of the day, really had lotsa fun! Went to the peak and ate Ice-cream! SHIOK to eat ice-cream ina natural cold environment like this. Then we went to see the symphony of lights. HAHAHA took many many photos and had lots of fun there. After that, went to eat dinner. People were challenging each othere with how many bowls of rice they can eat :O and I think Sharlene ate 4-6 bowls. SCARYY~~. Night fell, and we all checked in. Hotel was a total great success, just that they gave Joey & Esther a wrong room and scared them with the fact that 4 people had to share one bad for 4 nights. Switched rooms, settled down, bed was so comfy that we fell asleep that instant! Oh, and the toilet was the coolest toilet we’ve ever seen! Glass-walled toilets! Sharlene slept with: Shona, Kai Yun, Shan Yi. Irene slept with: Yan Ting and Jaslynn. Esther and Joey slept with: Chelsea and Samantha.

DAY 2 OF HONG KONG TRIP, 24TH NOVEMBER 2008
6.45AM morning call! Joey picked up the phone and said “hello!” and hung up. Haha. DUMBASS. Had DIM SUM breakfast( bet we’re going to have A LOT of DIM SUM for the next few days).Exchange with a school- Po Leung Kuk No.1 College. They were warm and welcoming. Ran all the way to the traffic light to send us off. Had lunch at a restaurant again! Challenged each other to the “how many bowls can you eat” competition. then later went to a place to have exchange with a good band. :O they were really good! Had PACKET DINNER THERE AT THEIR STAIRS.(OOPS, complained too much About restaurant food!)Didn’t eat much cause the food really sucked. after that, we all were very tired, and we went to eat dinner. Joey mouths the tour guide : We are going to have Tim Sum during dinner! Reached the hotel, debrief, went to the hotel room, tried to go and see scenery at the 40th floor ( Joey and Esther and Chelsea) but went to the wrong lift so could not see the scenery L. Realized that it was way past lights out time, so we went back. We suddenly felt very hungry and so we had midnight snacks. Lays, cup noodle! Yummy! After snack, hit the pillow and fell asleep straight.

DAY 3 AT HONG KONG!
Joey woke up really early to soak in the bathtub! HAHAHA. Today whole day sight-seeing! J Really enjoyed it. Was very fun! First, we went to the beach. WAHH the scenery really very nice leh.. Then we went crazy shopping at this place ( OPPS, forgot the name)HAHA. Then we went to see this famous flower. Its gold in colour but has a huge crack on it! :O Actually, people were not really interested in the flower. If I’m not wrong, there was a river, then we were all standing there watching the water. The breeze was SHIOK! After that, we left and went to a museum. It was the Olympic Museum. A lot of things there to see. HAHA. Interesting museum. After that went to have dinner and went to lady’s market! HAHAHA. After a while Joey got lost( she was with Chelsea and Gary) HAHA ://

DAY 4 AT HONG KONG!
茶餐厅for breakfast! YUCKS not nice lehh :// maybe cause eat so much Chinese food for the past few days and yea. Had people smoking in the stupid restaurant and the environment was extremely dirty. The floor was like covered in a layer of oil, dust and all sorts of dirt :// But Mr Foo says that we can’t eat restaurant food always. Have to consider the like of an ordinary Hong Kong-er life. Then we went to HONG KONG DISNEYLAND- the happiest place on earth! HAHA. Animation workshop in the morning. The topur guide was called Thomas, I think. Great English you have there, Thomas, I just lovveee your cute accent! J Performance in the afternoon. HAIIX. Screwed it up totally. The arrangement was like. Straight rows. Not a chair out of the straight rows! Ehh, you think straight rows very neat ahh, I can’t see the conductor leh! Almost everybody had no mood to continue the rest of the day playing at Disneyland. But Mr Foo talked to us and told us that since we were already here, why not just enjoy your time here! True, and I really did not want to hear of the performance again. HAHA. The rest of the time was enjoyed in Hong Kong Disneyland. Went back to the hotel, and went to the correct lift to see scenery! HAHA. Glass-tiles, all the way down to 48 floor. You’ll feel like wahh. What a nice scenery.

DAY 5 AT HONG KONG!
Irene and her roomies woke up VERY late. We were all going down to assemble and then they all then wake up. SLEEPY-HEADS! HAHA. Then we went to the same 茶餐厅to eat again. Shan’t mention how it was again. Tom- Lee music school rocks! You should see the price of the flute there. Like, S$150-S$250. O: HAHA. SHARLENE SAY THE TUTOR VERY CUTE. HAHA. Then we went to a restaurant “taste of Singapore” Didn’t really remind me of Singapore la, CRAP MANSXZ. After that, go and spam the Jelly Belly store, everybody all were happy buying jelly beans. After that went to the airport. Relaxed there for at least 1.5hours. Had dinner on the plane.m Was quite nice compared to the dinners and lunches and breakfasts that we had in Hong Kong. Got Ice-cream leh! Reached Singapore, home sweet home! ♥
Somewhere between Hong Kong trip and 27th December:
Mr Brando Tan decided that we would play Overture Number 2 cause he thinks that our band can make it. And he decided on Die Fledemaus for SYF. Cause Secondary 2s can’t make it. But Timothy strongly believes that it was because the flute section strongly objected to the Heart and voice piece. But I still think that it will have no difference as we are playing it for Limelight >.< AAH!!

060109 , Thursday:
Joy joined the band today, first band practice. It was Mr Kiang that day. She saw the Die Fledermaus piece for the first time. Although she did not say, but she was freaked out by that piece when Sharlene showed Joy the piece for the first time. HAHA. (I feel evil) But she later dropped to 2nd Flute, and yea, she’s much better there! J

080109, Saturday:
Joy saw Mr Brando Tan for the first time. She says that he’s scary. But she haven’t seen how he was the previous SYF. As a sec 1, I (Joey) was terrified when I saw how my seniors almost cried when he scolded them. HAHA. I could still remember Mr Desouza telling me to go main band and I rejected the offer immediately. I don’t want to suffer half a year more than everyone else.

150109, Thursday:
Played overture 2 with Joy for the first time. She is really quite good! (I must say) HAHA continue to work hard Joy!

INTENSIVEE!! Everybody comes back every day,(sectionals, self prac, junior band, main band) just to get accepted by the time of audition! JIA YOUU~

Zhu Jun and Corrine did not get into the audition L But there’s limelight for you guys. JIA YOUU. Joy was in probation . The rest got in smoothly. JIA YOU JOY!

130309-band camp day one

Practice practice. Was actually quite demoralised cause Mr tan kept telling us that we were a silver standard band. Was not really sure if that was the reason why everyone worked so hard. Although we were all mentally drained, we tried our very best but Mr Tan just wasn’t pleased.

140309-band camp day 2
Had night practice in the hall. HAIIXX. Another demoralising day. Sat alone and scrambled from your section. Realised that we did not practice as hard as AMKSS. Mr tan told us that AMKSS practiced the hard parts for at least 50 times without any mistakes, if not, you will have to start from zero. Played over 70 times of ‘C’ from overture number2. Although we’re not supposed to compare with them, but we were not very happy cause there were certain people in the band that still didn’t work hard enough and was causing this. But one band, one sound. We had to do this together.

150309-band camp day 3:
Morning practice, and Mr tan was still not very happy with us. He said that the one week left of the holidays would decide what we will be on 1st April. Went home and thought a lot about it. Determined to be at least a good flute player by the next time Mr tan see us.

MARCH HOLIDAYS.
Went back everyday, had self practice, sectionals, main band. Everyone wants to do well. But can tell that we were all very tired and sad and disappointed in ourselves.

Band exchange at AMKSS. Total screw up. We just weren’t ready. And lost the flute metronome too. It’s just so energy draining. We all were 我没有心情讲话。To think of it now, I can feel what I felt that time! Disappointment, anguish, everything. Had to write many stuff on what we had to improve on.

310309, eve of SYF.
wasn't really nervous... yet. I think I had freaked out too much already. Anyway, Timothy asked us to write another letter to ourselves to be opened tomorrow, on the bus. Mine began with something like "To:Me, From:Me..." (Yes, again, I know it is very lame.)

010409, SYF DAY.
I did not want to think about SYF cause I knew that if I thought too much I will start to freak out. HAHA. Received and exchanged encouragement notes from each other, tried to focus on the bus on the way there to SCH. The bus went nearer, and our hearts beated faster. We just have to nail this performance. It’s now or never. Went on stage, and Joey freaked out cause she was supposed to lead the first row to sit but thought the 2nd row people sat wrong row then started to panic. Walked a bit further and saw the 1st row. (wahh, joey you damn dumbass, as usual.) Finished the performance, and immediately felt scared again. Joey scared she walk walk walk, either trip on her own toes or fall off the stage. (paranoid dumbass) HAHA. Went outside the hall, Mabel was like practically shouting, “ Ehh, I hear your overture 2 really very nice leh! I see the judges the head down there keep nodding” but we all were like really mehh :// But the truth was, everyone was excited that it was finally over and that we were awaiting our good results to receive us. RESULTS, “ Xinmin Secondary School, Gold With Honours!” IDK if I brain block or what. Cause I heard the person say Gold, (pause) with honours! Everyone else also heard that. But the recording was no pause. Haha. Weird ehh. There we have it. At the results, many were seen crying, laughing, a moment never to be forgotten. Through this SYF, the process although was stressful, but the results were rewarding. WELL DONE FLUTE SECTION, I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW WE WORKED TOWARDS THIS VERY GOAL. Omg I write this I feel like crying mansxz. Haha. Opps.
